If you’re looking for a reasonably priced piano replacement, look no further than the DGX-230. It is the music student or professional musicians answer to I need more keys! and many music teachers encourage new students to get a keyboard that will grow with their needs. It features 76 non-weighted keys that not only look like piano keys but have a Graded Soft Touch (GST) action with different levels of resistance, making it easier for a budding musician to move to an acoustic or digital piano. The DGX-230 delivers on its piano theme with a special mode of fingering called Full Keyboard Mode. This allows the player to play the keyboard like a piano; for example a chord with the right hand and bass notes with the left. When using the accompaniment feature, the virtual band will follow these chords. Traditional portable keyboards normally require you to chord on the left side of the keyboard, in the bass section, which is foreign to most piano players. The DGX-230 is a (more…)

Most people involved in the arts consider The Juilliard School to be the preeminent institution for aspiring musicians. It attracts the world’s brightest and most talented students of the performing arts. But what if you lack the ambition or skill to become a world famous musician, and you simply want to learn the piano for your own enjoyment? Is there hope for you?

There is indeed, and the solution is literally at your fingertips. You can learn how to play the piano keyboard by accessing an online piano course via your computer keyboard. That’s right! The Internet could become your “Juilliard” and by simply downloading the right online piano course, or logging on to the appropriate piano teaching site, you could be on your way to your first lesson in the next few minutes.

All you need to get started is a computer, preferably with a fast Internet connection, speakers, a digital keyboard or acoustic piano and you’re good to go. The lessons are prepared in various formats, such as ebook, audio and video, and they are structured so that you can make progress at whatever pace you find comfortable.

More and more people are going online to learn the piano because of the convenience it offers. You don’t have to travel anywhere to get instructions since everything is done from the comfort of your home. And how much does it cost for this convenience? Only a tiny fraction compared to today’s going rate for traditional private lessons.

You get exposure to the same material as every other music student. The lessons are comprehensive and are prepared by professional musicians, music teachers and others with many years of music experience. So instead of being in an auditorium with scores of other students vying for the professor’s attention, you get to enjoy virtual one-on-one interaction with a piano instructor who has walked in your shoes.

This creates the kind of relaxed environment that’s good for learning. It keeps you motivated and enthusiastic, and it directly influences how fast and steadily you progress. Best of all, there are no demanding entrance audition requirements.

There are a number of different types of keyboards available in the market. If you are some one who wants to make a complete orchestra single handedly, then a portable electronic keyboard can be a good choice. You can not only carry them along anywhere and everywhere, they also have features like multi instrument sounds, built in speakers and different kind of rhythms. Some of the more advanced keyboards also have something called sampling capabilities which gives you a feature to record your music and playback for a sample. However, if you really are more seriously into making your music then there are much advanced and robustly featured electronic keyboards that must be considered. Apart from electronic keyboards there are also synthesizers that are more technologically advanced than the regular keyboards. A sampler with digital sound recording capabilities is almost a must with them. Then there are something known as a workstation that are like a complete studio packed in one device. The workstations come with highly advanced features like samplers, rhythms and percussion etc. You really would not need even a single additional instrument if you are on a work station to create any kind of music. Some electronic keyboards also have MIDI or Musical Instrument Digital Interface capability that lets them get connected and communicate with other computers or any kind of electronic instrument. If you are a piano lover and can not indulge in the real thing, you can always go for a digital piano which is lower at costs and highly portable too. It can be used by professional musicians because of it quite advanced features and technology.

You can refer to an Electronics Keyboard as a digital keyboard and it is nothing but a musical instrument that features a keyboard. There is either one, or more than one electronic device, the purpose of which is to amplify or generate sound. It was in the eighties that they enjoyed the maximum amount of popularity and both new wave music and pop chartbusters of the eighties were played on Electronics Keyboards. However, thirty years on, this popularity hasn’t faded out and these keyboards have been able to hold on to their past popularity. In current times what we mean by an Electronic Keyboard is very simple – it is a cheap and affordable entry level instrument that is targeted at children and amateurs. Nowadays, the term Electronic Keyboard is used as a sweeping term to refer to any kind of musical instrument that is electronic such as arranger keyboards, electronic organs, samplers, mellotrons, synthesizers, digital pianos, electric pianos and musical keyboards. Professional musicians refer to the kinds of instruments described above as beginner keyboards if the price is low, within $200 to $400. But the higher end versions that feature more advanced features and which are also highly priced are referred to as arranger keyboards or workstations. You should not really compare beginner keyboards with professional high end feature rich musical instruments, as they are lacking in many features, the quality of sound output is pretty mediocre and the size is also smaller and the price is also very affordable. Electronic Keyboards can be seen or are sold in toy stores, electronic stores along with video games and stereo systems. However, many professional music artists often used these kinds of beginner keyboards to add a touch of novelty and even variety to their music and this was a phenomenon that was often repeated in the genre of reggae music in the eighties.
