Electronic pianos are becoming very popular day by day as they are portable and have a more manageable size and of the various kinds of pianos that are sold, the Yamaha Electronic Piano is the number one bestseller and has been so for quite some time. The Yamaha range is a vast one and there are many different kinds of models to choose from. One model features 61 keys, headphone jack, tonal volume and controls, controls such as treble, bass, tremolo, decay, pitch etc while the weight is around 89 pounds. On top of that there are added freebies like sustain pedal and a travel case.Since it is rugged and extremely portable, it offers a blend of good looks with functionality and also boasts qualities like sound variety, expression and touch. With real ease you can choose to shift between or flit between different color sounds on the very same keyboard. Although this piano is an electronic one, while playing on the keyboard you will get the feel of playing on an acoustic piano because the sound and feel of the keyboard is similar.Another feature is that almost all the electronic pianos in this range are velocity sensitive or touch sensitive. When you strike hard it will produce a crashing note and if you strike softly, the note produced will be softer. However, the actions are not complicated and the features are extremely user friendly. Most reviewers have rated the Yamaha Electronic Piano range very high and at times 5 out of 5 stars from learned reviewers. The range does not have any cons as such but some reviewers do feel that the pianos could have added a few more voices. But the pros will outclass the cons. You are getting excellent value for money, there is a graded keyboard feel, there are features like dual voice mode, onboard MIDI sequencer, 64 notes polyphony and the sound produced by the Yamaha Electronic Piano is a crisp dynamic electric sound with an acoustic feel.

Most people involved in the arts consider The Juilliard School to be the preeminent institution for aspiring musicians. It attracts the world’s brightest and most talented students of the performing arts. But what if you lack the ambition or skill to become a world famous musician, and you simply want to learn the piano for your own enjoyment? Is there hope for you?

There is indeed, and the solution is literally at your fingertips. You can learn how to play the piano keyboard by accessing an online piano course via your computer keyboard. That’s right! The Internet could become your “Juilliard” and by simply downloading the right online piano course, or logging on to the appropriate piano teaching site, you could be on your way to your first lesson in the next few minutes.

All you need to get started is a computer, preferably with a fast Internet connection, speakers, a digital keyboard or acoustic piano and you’re good to go. The lessons are prepared in various formats, such as ebook, audio and video, and they are structured so that you can make progress at whatever pace you find comfortable.

More and more people are going online to learn the piano because of the convenience it offers. You don’t have to travel anywhere to get instructions since everything is done from the comfort of your home. And how much does it cost for this convenience? Only a tiny fraction compared to today’s going rate for traditional private lessons.

You get exposure to the same material as every other music student. The lessons are comprehensive and are prepared by professional musicians, music teachers and others with many years of music experience. So instead of being in an auditorium with scores of other students vying for the professor’s attention, you get to enjoy virtual one-on-one interaction with a piano instructor who has walked in your shoes.

This creates the kind of relaxed environment that’s good for learning. It keeps you motivated and enthusiastic, and it directly influences how fast and steadily you progress. Best of all, there are no demanding entrance audition requirements.

Electronic pianos are keyboard instruments are designed so they can simulate the timbre of an acoustic piano by using an electronic circuit. Pianos were widely used musical instruments in the old days. Almost every house had a piano. Pianos were the most popular musical instruments all through the 18th century and even after that. It was as late as the 20th century that the use of the electronic pianos came into existence. Electronic pianos were widely used and now, there are many used electronic pianos available for sale. The best part of the electronic piano is that they do not require tuning. The traditional pianos had to be tuned from time to time so that the sound quality remained the best.Used electronic pianos do not have to be tuned and hence they can be used as is. The used electronic pianos will be available in all the shops that sell musical instruments. But before you buy used electronic pianos make sure that you know what you want, like size, colour, weighted keys. Just do a bit of homework first. If you feel that you are a beginner and do not know much about pianos then it will always be better to take somebody with you who will be able to identify a used electronic piano as a good one. The advantage of buying used electronic pianos is that you do not have to pay the original price and you can save a lot of money.Beginners can start with a used electronic piano, and later, when you become an expert you can always get a new piano for yourself. You can also find used electronic pianos on the internet; there are many websites that will give great offers on used pianos. Just use the same kind of common sense you would on the high street and you could well pick up an incredible deal, and there’s a lot out there, you just have to find them.

1. How much can you afford?

Very often, the questions I get on how to choose a keyboard or how to choose a digital piano has to do with money. What you choose may just be what you can afford.

With such a wealth of keyboards available, a working person shouldn’t have a problem finding one that fits their budget. Low priced keyboards are all over. But this doesn’t mean that you should settle for anything. As the old adage goes, you usually get what you pay for. Usually the more money you invest, the greater the returns.

2. Do you need weighted action or synth action.

Questions on how to choose a keyboard or how to choose a digital piano are usually based on the type of keys a keyboard comes with, whether weighted, semi-weighted, or light.

Weighted action means that the keyboard comes with heavy (weighted) keys and feels like an acoustic piano. You need some muscle to play such keyboards. If you’re a trained pianist or you want to develop your piano skills a weighted keyboard or digital piano would be better suited.

Synth action would mean lighter keys. You can usually play faster and easier with a synth action keyboard. Are you gonna be playing synthy and techno stuff? Then synth action is what you need.

3. How many keys do you need?

Questions on how to choose a keyboard or how to choose a digital piano usually have to do with the number of keys that the instrument comes with.

You have a choice between 88, 76, 61, 49, 37, 25 keys, and even less. Your choice should be based on your needs and circumstances. For instance, players doing stuff that requires a small range, like samples, only need a few keys. 76 keys are usually best for quality synth action. But if you’re into stuff like sound development you can’t afford to work with anything short of 88 keys.

The piano musical instrument has come a long way since its discovery hundreds of years back. The original edition has now been simulated and enhanced innumerable times, following-on in a big quantity of diverse piano designs and with the most recent technology, digital pianos have emerged and turn into a well-liked substitute. But which one is exactly for you? That depends significantly on what you plan to do and how much would you be willing to shell out. Yet, there are many advantages and disadvantages for both sides.
THE ACOUSTIC PIANO
The acoustic piano is a complex configuration. When the keys are pressed the result is that a string vibrates whish is responsible for sound production. This is improved by the piano’s soundboard providing a rich, accurate piano sound, and quite appreciated at concerts and recitals. On the other hand, an acoustic piano needs a lot of room, maintenance and funds.
When choosing an acoustic piano, there are many things that you need to think about. First, is that it requires a standard tuning, especially during weather changes or if the piano is transported from one place to another.
Second while it requires regular tuning and maintenance, nothing beats then sound of an acoustic piano making it a worth it investment.
Third, acoustic pianos let any musician to play softly or loudly, depending on the kind of piece being played and the mood it portrays.
Fourth, acoustic pianos are heavy and huge and take a lot of space because of its size.
Lastly, acoustic pianos are generally expensive. Most affordable ones are usually full of defects and not worth buying at all.
THE DIGITAL PIANO
The digital piano is a duplication of an acoustic piano. Unlike an acoustic piano, the digital piano uses a device, which is usually a recorded notes from an acoustic piano that produces sound. Digital pianos are the most preferred instrument by bands as they are handy and very light.
Just like an acoustic piano, there are many things to consider when buying a digital piano. First, is the price generally, digital piano are cheaper compared to acoustic pianos.
Second, digital pianos have less sensitivity in its keys, making it difficult to interpret piano pieces accurately.
Third, if you enroll in a piano class, you will find that most teachers recommend the use of acoustic pianos than digital ones. Therefore, most of them will not teach you how to manipulate a digital piano.
Fourth, digital pianos are very handy and light, they even have a carry bag for better handling.
Fifth, a high end digital piano contains features and styles in a wide selection. These include drum tracks and notes which were recorded from several instruments and kinds of pianos.
Sixth, unlike an acoustic piano, digital pianos need no tuning even when the weather changes significantly.
The debate between acoustic pianos and digital pianos goes on and on up to this point in time. Classical pianist claims that nothing beats the sound of acoustic pianos. However, digital pianos are commonly used especially for bands as they are very handy and don’t take much room for storage. They are also cheap compared to acoustics. So if you were to choose, which would you prefer – acoustics or digital?
